Albert Sweetser Bond
piano maker

Biography
Albert Sweetser Bond is presented as the true maker of the Packard Piano, a 'born artist' whose insistence on artistry gave the instrument the reputation popularly credited to organ-maker Isaac T. Packard, who the text says never actually knew how to build a piano. Bond quietly trained others to assist him in the work, and the text wryly notes that he then let the world believe those assistants had done it all.
