Biography

Albert T. Strauch, born in New York in 1866, was the son of Strauch Brothers founder Peter D. Strauch and received thorough training in the piano action business under his father's guidance. He attended public schools and a military school in Stamford, Conn. A longtime member of the General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen of New York, he served on its library committee, as its secretary and chairman, and later on its executive committee. Described as an expert on piano action construction, he obtained patents for improvements in both grand and upright piano actions. From Spillane (1890): Albert T. Strauch, born in New York in 1865, was a son of Peter D. Strauch. He learned piano action-making before moving into the commercial department of the family firm, Strauch Bros., of which he had charge. He became a partner in the firm on January 1, 1890, together with his brother William E. Strauch, and was described as popular in trade and social circles.
