Alfred Pirsson
journalist/publisher (American Art Journal)
Biography
Alfred Pirsson was the son of James Pirsson, a New York piano manufacturer. He was associated with the American Art Journal, which he left in 1867 when he was succeeded as its representative by William M. Thoms, who joined the publication that year and immediately became its publisher. The text identifies him chiefly through his father's standing in the piano trade and his own prior connection to the journal that would become one of the leading organs of the piano trade under Thoms and, before him, Henry C. Watson.
