Antoine Bord
French
piano maker
Biography
Antoine Bord was a Paris piano maker whose firm, in its best days, turned out as many as 4,000 pianos per year, mostly small uprights. The text contrasts this earlier enterprise with the firm's later state, describing it as having become content to rest on its laurels rather than continuing to innovate, part of a broader critique of French manufacturers' conservatism compared with German and American makers.
