Biography

Bancroft was the church organist in Boston for whom the young Patrick Joseph Healy worked the bellows after arriving from Ireland. Bancroft became interested in the Irish lad, and after Healy finished school, secured him a position as errand boy with music dealer George P. Reed, setting Healy on the path into the music trade.
