Biography
Carl Hecker was an eminent portrait painter and art teacher, and the father of American Art Journal assistant editor Guido Hecker. He directed the Carl Hecker Art School, described as a celebrated institution that trained some of the most capable artists working in the fine and industrial arts in the United States.
