Biography
Carl Scheel of Cassel worked for the Erard firm in Paris from 1837 to 1846, serving as superintendent during his later years there. Having learned a great deal in Paris, his own business, founded in 1846, was a success from the start. An acknowledged master of his art, Scheel attracted many young men who wished to study under him, among whom was Georg Steck, who later made a name for himself in New York.
