Biography
Charles Avery Welles founded the Music Trades Review, a trade journal covering the music and piano industries, in 1879. Under his direction it became one of the recognized organs of the art industry discussed by Spillane. The paper subsequently passed into the ownership of Jeff Davis Bill and E. Lyman Bill in 1887, who continued its publication.
