Charles Gehrling of Paris is listed among the earliest piano action makers, having started his business in 1842, the same year L. Isermann began his action-making business in Hamburg. He is named as part of a sequence of pioneering European action makers, followed shortly afterward by Schwander in 1844. No further biographical information about Gehrling is provided in this text.
