Biography
Charles Jacob studied piano making with Calenberg & Vaupel before co-founding the piano business known as Jacob Brothers in 1878 together with his brother, John F. Jacob. Following John F.'s death in 1885, their youngest brother, C. Albert Jacob, joined the firm, which was incorporated in 1902. Under Charles Jacob's presidency, assisted by his brother Albert, the corporation grew to include its own factory as well as the Wellington Piano Case Company, the Abbott Piano Action Company, the Mathushek & Son Piano Company, and the long-established firm of James & Holmstrom, all continued with notable success.
