Daniel Krakauer

partner piano maker pianist piano manufacturer
  • Krakauer Brothers

Biography

Daniel Krakauer, a son of Simon Krakauer, joined the family piano-making business in 1867 along with his brother Julius, at which time the firm was changed to Krakauer Brothers. From Spillane (1890): Daniel Krakauer was a member of the Krakauer Brothers, the New York piano-manufacturing firm founded by the sons of Simon Krakauer. The text singles him out among his musical brothers as an accomplished pianist, reflecting the family's broader musical background inherited from their father, a former music teacher in Germany and New York. Daniel Krakauer was one of the brothers who joined David Krakauer in partnership in 1878 to found Krakauer Brothers, the New York piano manufacturing firm that became known for popular-priced instruments of excellent character after establishing on Union Square.
