Biography
David Walhaupter advertised in the New York Journal in 1773 that, working at the upper end of Fair Street, he made and repaired harpsichords, guitars, and all sorts of musical instruments. Spillane cites this notice as among the earliest documented records of instrument-making as a trade in New York.
