Biography
Dorman was a Nashville dealer whose firm, Dorman and Holmes, sold sheet music and small goods before Jesse French, Sr. bought into it in 1873. The firm subsequently became Dorman, French and Smith and then, after French bought out Smith's interest, Dorman and French. Dorman retired from the business a year later, leaving French in entire control.
