Downe
inventor
Biography
Downe is credited, jointly with Bishop, as co-inventor of a keyboard attachment illustrated in Alfred Dolge's chapter on the player piano. The device, dated 1883, is depicted in two drawings: an exterior view of the apparatus and a view of its internal, key-like mechanisms. Beyond this joint patent attribution and the 1883 date, the text provides no further biographical information, dates, or nationality for Downe.
