Dubois
piano maker
Biography
Dubois (given name not recorded by Spillane) was a New York piano maker who separated from his partner George Bacon, with Bacon retaining most of the resulting business and reputation. Dubois did not retire from the trade, however, continuing under various names, appearing at intervals as "Dubois & Company" and, from 1845, as Dubois & Warriner. Dubois & Warriner went out of business in 1851. Spillane notes that the Dubois name had little significance in piano manufacturing after the split with Bacon.
