Biography
Dwight Gibbons started a piano-making business in Rochester, New York, sometime during 1850, together with Frederick Starr. In 1855 he was granted a patent for a peculiar design in an iron frame, an innovation later applied by Starr to his own instruments. Like many mechanical experiments of the period, the design ultimately went into disuse. No further biographical particulars are provided for Gibbons in this portion of the text.
