Edgar A. Poe was numbered among the editors of the Broadway Journal, one of several journalistic ventures Henry C. Watson pursued in partnership with well-known figures of literary New York. Watson's personal influence drew the advertising patronage of at least eight piano firms to the Broadway Journal, though the periodical, lacking sufficient capital, ultimately became obsolete.
