Emil Streicher
Austrian
Biography
Emil Streicher was the son of Johann Baptist Streicher and was admitted to partnership in the family piano firm in 1857, at which point the business was renamed J. B. Streicher & Sohn. The text gives no further detail of his activity within the firm beyond this admission. Following his father's death in 1871, Emil retired from the business soon afterward, and the text notes he did so without a successor, meaning the multi-generational Streicher piano-making dynasty—stretching back through his grandmother Nannette Streicher (née Stein) and great-grandfather Johann Andreas Stein—came to an end with him. No birth or death dates, or other career details, are supplied in this section.
