Frederici

German

organ builder

Biography

Frederici was an organ builder of Hanover who, noticing the schoolboy Friedrich Ehrbar's decided talent for music and mechanical ability—demonstrated by his making guitars for himself and comrades—consented to take him on as an apprentice. Ehrbar served fully seven years under Frederici, and although Frederici was reportedly anxious to retain his services at good wages once the apprenticeship ended, Ehrbar chose instead to travel to Vienna to further his training. No other information about Frederici—his full name, dates, or the broader scope of his organ-building career—is provided in this section beyond his role in launching Ehrbar's career.
