Biography
G. H. Hulskamp became a marked figure in the piano business of Troy, New York, where pianofortes were first made about 1840. He was a most persistent inventor and improver, directing his efforts mostly toward the mechanics rather than the acoustics of the piano, and in this connection took out a large number of patents. Hulskamp was well known throughout the State of New York and was regarded with much respect in New York City, where he lived in his later years. No specific patents or inventions of his are individually detailed in this portion of the text, though his prolific patenting activity is emphasized.
