Biography
Gault was named by Spillane among the general merchants of New York, alongside Hayman Levy, Peter Goelet, Campbell, John Arthur, and Rivington, who informally imported harpsichords, and occasionally a pianoforte for a special customer, before 1776, bringing such goods over on the same ships as furniture and other luxuries.
