Biography
George P. Morris was a New York literary and musical figure whom Henry C. Watson came to know among the city's celebrities after emigrating in 1841. Morris served as musical editor of the New York Mirror together with N. P. Willis (and, per the text, Watson), and was, per Spillane, the author of the widely known song "Woodman, Spare That Tree."
