Biography

Gilbert V. Briggs was a New York piano maker who operated at 42 Fourth Avenue from 1839 until he left the business in 1851. Spillane describes him as a maker of some note who learned the trade in the shop of Nunns & Clark. He was not related to C. C. Briggs of Briggs & Company, Boston, despite the shared surname.
