Hackenheimer
Biography
Hackenheimer (full given name not stated on these pages) entered the employ of C. Kurtzmann and Company as an office boy at age eighteen, after finishing all the schooling available in his hometown. He quickly outgrew the office-boy role and mastered the details of office work, then, showing an inquisitive and systematic mind, studied factory routine and worked out a cost system for the firm as it grew. In 1894 he was appointed buyer of all supplies, and in 1895 he was given supervision of credits. These successive responsibilities prepared him for the position of secretary and general manager, offices to which he was elected when C. Kurtzmann and Company was incorporated in 1896.
