Biography
The composer Haydn, referred to in the text as Ignace Pleyel's teacher, was paid by Count Erdoedy to teach and board the young Pleyel for five years. Years later, when Pleyel took a concert engagement in London in 1793, he appeared in direct competition with Haydn, his former master.
