Biography
Henri L. Stuart was a right-hand associate of Horace Greeley and, per Spillane, "an indefatigable worker and promoter in connection with public enterprises of an industrial and political character." He is credited with first introducing the pianoforte into the New York public schools. Along with Henry C. Watson and Cornelius Matthews, he was among the literary and public figures who shaped the early career of William M. Thoms, who came into contact with him through the offices of the American Art Journal.
