Henry A. Mott wrote "The Fallacy of the Present Theory of Sound" (New York, John Wiley & Sons), in which he vigorously attacked Helmholtz's "originally much-lauded 'Tone Wave Theory,'" as well as Helmholtz's claimed discovery of the "Ear Harp."
