Biography
Henry Allen was one of the three founders of Hallet, Davis & Company, alongside Russell Hallet and George H. Davis. After Davis left to form a separate partnership, Allen and Hallet continued the business as Hallet & Allen, a firm that later admitted William Cumston. Around 1850 Allen himself withdrew and combined with Edwin Brown to form Brown & Allen, the shop in which Henry F. Miller, Sr. first gained insight into piano manufacturing.
