Biography

Herman F. Keidel was a brother of Charles Keidel, a member of the firm of Knabe & Company, and for many years served as manager of Knabe & Company's extensive Fifth Avenue warerooms and large retail trade in New York, occupied by the firm since 1873. He died on February 17, 1889, at the age of forty-two, under circumstances the text describes as 'peculiarly sad,' and his death was much regretted, the house having lost in him a faithful assistant.
