J. G. Irmler
d. 1857-12-10 · German
Biography
Identified in the text only through the firm name he founded, J. G. Irmler, this maker built a small shop into a large industrial piano-making establishment whose instruments sold worldwide. Some of his earliest productions were preserved at the Germanic Museum in Nuremberg. He died December 10, 1857, whereupon management passed to his sons, Otto and Oswald Irmler, both of whom had trained in leading piano shops of Vienna, Paris, and London. The firm he founded was later honored as purveyor to the courts of the Emperor of Austria and the Kings of Wurtemburg, Sweden, Roumania, and other rulers. The text does not give his given name beyond the initials in the firm name, nor his birth date.
