Biography

J. P. Cole made piano instruments of some repute in Albany beginning in 1850. The author states he 'deserves some mention as an old maker,' situating Cole among the roster of lesser-known but locally respected Albany manufacturers active in the mid-nineteenth century. Cole is also named in James A. Gray's letter listing Albany piano firms operating since 1836. No further biographical particulars, such as birth, training, or later career, are supplied in this portion of the text.
