Biography

Jacob Christy was the originator of the Christy piano business, which up to a recent period had borne his name. A practical piano-maker, he entered the trade over thirty years before this account was written (around 1860) and built up a very large business, becoming well known until a few years prior to 1890. At the time of writing he was connected with the Colby Piano Company at Erie, Pennsylvania.
