Biography
Son of Balthasar Schiedmayer, Johann David Schiedmayer succeeded his father upon his death in 1781. He was honored with appointment as piano maker to the Elector of Brandenburg, and removed his activity to Nuremberg, where he continued with great success until his own death in 1806. His son, Johann Lorenz Schiedmayer, later moved the family enterprise to Stuttgart, founding what became one of Germany's most renowned piano firms. A portrait of Johann David Schiedmayer accompanies the text. Johann David Schiedmayer continued the Schiedmayer piano-making business at Nuremberg, Germany.
