Biography
John Arthur was named by Spillane among the general merchants of New York who informally imported harpsichords, and occasionally a pianoforte for a special customer, before 1776, alongside Hayman Levy, Peter Goelet, Campbell, Gault, and Rivington, typically bringing such instruments over on the same ships as furniture, paintings, and other luxury goods.
