Biography
John Hopkinson founded the firm of J. & J. Hopkinson at Leeds in 1835. In 1846 he took his brother James as a partner and relocated the business to London. Described as a thorough piano builder, Hopkinson invented numerous improvements that brought the firm great prominence in the trade. He retired from business in 1869 and died on April 4, 1886.
