Biography
Linden was a German practical piano-maker with prior experience in New York shops, including work as a key maker for Dubois, Bacon & Chambers. In 1840 he partnered with Fritz, a fellow German craftsman, to found Linden & Fritz, beginning business at 115 Walker Street before moving toward 1846 to Broadway near Broome Street, into premises vacated by the cabinet-maker Roux. The firm produced very good instruments in its time but, like several small contemporaries, left the trade after 1857 without leaving much further record.
