Biography

Marc A. Blumenberg acquired the 'Musical and Dramatic News' from the Lockwood Press in 1881 and renamed it the 'Musical Courier.' In 1897 he separated the paper's musical and industrial departments, publishing the 'Musical Courier Extra' strictly as a trade edition. From Spillane (1890): Marc A. Blumenberg, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, became co-editor of the Musical Courier in 1885 together with Otto Floersheim, succeeding Mr. Nickerson. He was practically experienced in the piano business, was regarded as a good musician and a clever writer, and belonged to a family long associated with musical art in Baltimore and elsewhere.
