Biography
Mr. Claus was a New York craftsman to whom Dr. Alexander Anderson entrusted an old violin, acquired from Mr. Pierce, for repair and varnishing in 1792, according to Anderson's diary. Anderson later paid Claus two and one half dollars for the work.
