Biography
N. J. Haines Jr. was a son of N. J. Haines, head of the New York piano firm Haines Brothers. Following the 1887 death of Francis W. Haines, he assisted his father in running the company alongside his brother William Haines. Both sons were described as thoroughly trained in every department of the business, mechanical and commercial, and in sympathy with the progress of musical art.
