Biography
The senior member of Nishikawa & Son, a musical instrument firm established at Yokohama in 1885, was originally a maker of Japanese lutes and other traditional instruments and continued making violins. The firm, which he headed, produced about 200 pianos and 1,300 organs per year. His son, who is not further named in the text, learned piano making at the Estey factory in New York.
