Biography
Oothout was a partner in the New York firm of Davenport and Oothout, which made piano plates. Daniel F. Treacy joined the firm as foreman in 1872 and, two years later, bought out Oothout's interest, becoming half owner of the business, which subsequently expanded into a multi-city foundry and piano-hardware operation.
