Biography
P. McDavitt operated an auction store near Coenties Slip in New York. In 1774 he advertised, through the New York Journal, an auction of goods salvaged from the wrecked ship Pedro, including three 'hammer harpsichords slightly damaged.' Spillane surmises these were pianofortes that had been specially ordered for families in Baltimore, the ship's intended destination.
