Parke Benjamin was a New York literary figure who, together with Horace Greeley, edited the New World when Henry C. Watson arrived in New York in 1841. Under Benjamin, Watson found his first position in American literature as the paper's musical critic, marking the start of Watson's long career in American musical journalism and his subsequent connection to the piano trade.
