Biography
Paul Ehrlich, working in Germany, patented his "Ariston" mechanism around 1887. It played a compass of 36 notes and had no pneumatics. Ehrlich's device was subsequently improved upon by Ludwig Hupfeld, who expanded its note compass. No further biographical information is given in the text.
