Biography
Mr. Peek was the senior member of the New York firm of Peek & Son (later Peek & Sons), a practical piano-maker who began business in an unpretentious manner in 1851. Under his and his successors' direction the firm rose to prominence around 1878 as maker of the popular-priced "opera" piano, which achieved a large circulation, and by the time of writing the firm's output had grown to large proportions despite heavy competition in the trade.
