Biography
Peter Kellmer began making pianos under his own name in 1883 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, founding the Kellmer Piano Company. Described as an artisan of the old school who disdained commercialism, he took pride in every instrument bearing his name, insisting that every piano he made be the best possible, a standard later carried on by his son, George W. Kellmer, who took over the family factory.
