Biography
A schoolmaster surnamed Pleyel lived in the village of Ruppersthal near Vienna. Twice married, he became the father of 38 children and lived to the age of 99. His twenty-fourth child, born in 1757 and baptized Ignace, showed early talent, prompting the schoolmaster to personally teach him Latin and to obtain a music teacher for him, setting the boy on the path to a musical career.
