Rigoli

Italian

harpsichord-maker

Biography

Rigoli, of Florence, is recorded as having made vertical harpsichords as early as 1621, well ahead of the instrument's later popularization in Italy under makers such as Father Zanetti. Spillane notes, however, that Rigoli's early work in this form attracted little notice at the time and had limited influence on later development.
