Biography

Rivington was named by Spillane among the general merchants of New York, alongside Hayman Levy, Peter Goelet, Campbell, Gault, and John Arthur, who informally imported harpsichords, and occasionally a pianoforte for a special customer, before 1776, bringing such goods over on the same vessels as furniture and other imported luxuries.
