Biography
S. D. Smith was a cousin of H. W. Smith of the Smith American Piano Company, born in the same place, Enfield, Mass., and in the same year, 1830. Spillane describes him as also practical, and he served as President of the Smith American Organ and Piano Company, a close corporation, alongside his relatives H. W. Smith and E. W. Smith.
